Teen Abstinence? Just saying ' no ' does not work. Education does!

There are some people certainly well meaning, who think teen abstinence is a concept that this group of hormone raging approve, only because it is what they are told to do. If they won't clean your room, what makes you think that they will accept the Directive teen abstinence? It is like asking a bird not to fly, a dog does not bark or wind to cease. If you think this will work, then you are with your head in the sand. Ostriches don't fly, BTW. So, what works?

Parenting teenagers is the answer. Remember, this is the age that contests the need for almost everything that is good for them! However, this does not mean that will not pass some salient facts. Guilt can be induced through moral avenues of argument, but there are some hard-hitting facts and reasons that will give them a break, when nothing else does.

Moral and religious arguments can take some weight while you're talking about, but in the heat of the moment, children aren't thinking that chat. This is where the concept of abstinence teen is about the idea farthest from your mind. It's not that kids don't want to go along with the idea, they just don't have the discipline, experience or inclination.

A more practical approach produces a better measure of success. For example, some parents are reluctant to talk to their teens about sexual matters. They don't know how to put the matter of course. There are sites that give parents ideas on how to talk with children about sex. Take a look at some of them and find an approach that is comfortable for you and your child.

A perspective of facts can be more valuable. You can shrink at the thought of talking about STDs, AIDS and teen pregnancy. This is an outdated attitude. However unfortunate children know all about sexual mores really in practice of their classmates. Teen culture does not have many adherents to teen abstinence. This is the blind leading the blind.

Today, there are a number of sexually transmitted diseases that can cause problems for life. According to current statistics, fully 20% of our population is afflicted with herpes! While medication is available to help manage this disease, there are significant risks associated with taking the medication, without any warranty of non-infecting his partner. AIDS is incurable and can be transmitted through a single sexual encounter. Regarding pregnancy, a teenager is simply not emotionally equipped to be a parent – not yet. If you talk with your teenager on a purely practical level, it won't be difficult to convince them that life will change radically and to his life.

You may be shocked to learn that most teenagers can relate to the responsibilities and parenthood restrictions presents. More than likely, know someone who is an adolescent parent and are well aware of how a friend's life is changed by either a reckless moment and lack of discipline.

Teen abstinence promotion requires that you, Dad, get a reality check. Do a little research and put it all out for them to digest. Children have common sense. It's up to you to structure the facts so that is irrefutable, morals and religion notwithstanding. Now the issue of abstinence teen still inserts the element of moral or religious, with a host of reasons real undisputed stick.
