Children everywhere enjoy being fear within the secure environment of watching a TV show. Amusing horror stories for children are difficult to write, but the series are you afraid of the Dark was very well received. Its success was for seven seasons, running from 1990 until 2000.
The show was a group of teenage friends who call themselves the society of midnight. Each episode finds them sat around a campfire secretly in the Woods, and turn to tell each other scary tales. These stories never exceeds the mark of what is a scare story acceptable for a child and stay away from anything graphic. A typical plot would involve a haunted house magic, curses, witches, aliens or ghosts. The episodes end with a happy ending, at least for the main cast.
The storytelling group included Ross as Gary Hull, Jodie Resther as Kiki, Rachel Blanchard as Kristen, Kareem Blackwell as Quinn and Daniel DeSanto Tucker.
Besides the usual in are you afraid of the dark, there were recurring characters, such as Sardinian, owner of a magic shop that children attend. Another character was Dr. Vink, who was portrayed as a mad scientist.
For those who missed the original deadline, or for those who want to indulge in nostalgia, there are DVDs available in the series. The complete seasons are all there and bonus features of Episode synopses feature. The sixth season DVD also has a gallery that season. Also is a compilation of eight episodes called are you afraid of the dark? -Favorite freaky. Fans of the series can also announce their loyalty with a t-shirt company midnight. The fanbase is not confined to the United States, such as reruns of the shows are watched in the United Kingdom, Australia, Czech Republic and in the countries of Latin America.
